Lizzo made a fashion statement during her recent appearance on *Saturday Night Live*, referencing current political developments.
During a medley of “Love in Real Life” and “Still Bad,” the singer wore a black sleeveless crop top with the word “TARIFFIED” in bold red letters. She completed the look with black sequin shorts, silver star details, fishnet stockings, and red patent leather heels.
Her choice of outfit came shortly after President Donald Trump, 78, announced increased tariffs on imported goods, including a significant hike of up to 145% on Chinese products.
According to the administration, the move is aimed at supporting U.S. manufacturing and protecting American jobs. This political statement is consistent with Lizzo’s outspoken nature, as she has consistently used her platform to speak on important social issues.
Lizzo, whose full name is Melissa Jefferson, has previously expressed her support for former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.
At a campaign event in Michigan, she spoke in support of her hometown, Detroit, following comments made by Trump, highlighting the city’s contributions to the auto and music industries.
After the election results, in which President Trump was re-elected, Lizzo shared a positive message on social media, saying, “LOVE to everyone in the WORLD.”
This added touch of optimism resonated with many of her fans, especially during a challenging political period.
